At AU21, we are committed to growing blockchain ecosystems to foster broader and more universal adoption around the world. We believe the implications of blockchain can improve lives and provide a great equalizer in decentralizing power amongst the few in the world. As early investors in some of the largest exchanges in the world — which helps provide years of financial independence for disruptive blockchain companies — including Binance, Huobi, OKEx, and Gate.io, we are proud to now help foster growth for cutting-edge blockchain ecosystems like Polygon. That’s why we’re excited to announce the $21M AU21 Polygon Ecosystem Fund.

POLYGON AND AU21 CAPITAL ANNOUNCE FIRST FUND DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING STARTUPS IN POLYGON ECOSYSTEM

The $21 Million Fund Is A Joint Venture Providing Funding, Developmental Support, Exchange Listings, And Business Strategy

MENLO PARK, June 2, 2021 — AU21 Capital, the leading investor of new blockchain ecosystem projects, and Polygon, a protocol for Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks, today announced a $21 million fund to grow the Polygon (formerly Matic) ecosystem. The AU21 Polygon Ecosystem Fund is the first of its kind and will go towards promising projects utilizing Polygon’s cutting-edge blockchain. AU21 has previously been an early investor in The Graph, Polkadot, Casper Labs, Covalent, Cere, and Elrond, amongst others. The joint fund initiative aims to bolster growth within the Polygon ecosystem.

“We decided to back Polygon-based projects in particular for two main reasons,” said Alexi Nedeltchev, Manager of the AU21 Polygon Ecosystem Fund. “First, Polygon’s coordination with Ethereum allows us to capture an already-active ecosystem. Second, Polygon’s exceptional development potential has already been realized through a number of partnerships with top DeFi protocols, creating an important framework for future development on Polygon’s infrastructure.”

In addition to procuring financial backing for early-stage projects, AU21 will provide support for business development, marketing, and human capital initiatives. The fund has also established numerous partnerships with Polygon-focused development shops and recruiting firms. The AU21 Polygon Ecosystem Fund has already made some early investments in the Polygon ecosystem, including a Polygon-first launchpad called Polystarter.com. The executive team at AU21 is made up of former Silicon Valley executives and early blockchain development leaders from Huobi, Galaxy Digital, Polygon, Gate.io, and Parity.

“We’re very excited to see this fund being launched by AU21 right around our upcoming SDK release,” said Sandeep Nailwal, Co-Founder and COO of Polygon. “As our upwards total value locked continues to trend, we feel that now is a better time than ever to introduce this fund.”
